The Federal Government in conjunction with Scenic Rim Regional Council has provided $10 million funding for the first stage of the Bromelton logistics hub to Australia’s largest private freight rail and logistics organization, the SCT group. SCT have confirmed that they will commence works on the intermodal facility in March 2016 and that completion is set for early 2017.
This is fantastic news for the Beaudesert region, this project will create jobs throughout the construction phase and will be the start of long term job creation and assist with economic growth in the area.
The Bromelton industrial development area consists of over 15,000 Hectare of land located a few kilometres west of Beaudesert. Bromelton is destined to be Queensland’s largest transport and logistics hub that will underpin the growth in south east Queensland through the provision of integrated logistics and freight infrastructure. It has been designed and planned in collaboration with Federal, State and Local Governments to ensure it has the capacity to meet the growing demands in freight movements and will provide significant employment with-in the Beaudesert region.
Federal, State and Local Governments have commenced works on the necessary surrounding infrastructure upgrades to facilitate the development at Bromelton. The dual gauge rail line from the Port of Brisbane to Bromelton is now complete, Wyaralong Dam is finished in readiness to supply water to the project and Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade works are underway. The $24 million Beaudesert Township by-pass has now commenced and is anticipated to be completed in 2017. Once complete it will facilitate heavy vehicles movements from Bromelton to the highway without needing to travel through the town centre.
